Collage!

We looked at a range of contemporary artists who use unusual materials to create 2D and 3D collages. Pupils then discussed a range of ideas and decided to use a variety of found materials from the classroom and the playground.

They collected their materials and began to create their collages. It was great fun, pupils were very enthusiastic and they had some very imaginative ideas:

Middle school were looking at the curriculum for excellence experiences and outcomes this week. They worked in small groups on specific curricular areas to plan a range of activities for our current topic on the Olympics:

Ancient Olympics!

Middle school are starting a new topic on the Olympics in Social Studies. This dovetails nicely with our study on democracy as the ancient Greeks used a system of democracy similar to ours. Before learning about the modern games the class are learning about the formation of the ancient games.

Today, they have learnt about the Greek city states and how the games started as a way of avoiding war between them! Now, one group is researching the city states...

One group is researching the very first games...

And another group is researching the different events held at the games...
